Major Project: Another Day by Francesca Fryer

Another Day was an Arts Council England–funded exhibition and public programme co-produced by MA Exhibition Studies student Francesca Fryer and artist Aaron Jolley across multiple venues in Liverpool and the Wirral in May/June 2025. The project explored how the everyday can be perceived and engaged with through processes of care, facilitation, and nostalgia, considering how contemporary curatorial practice can create opportunities for connection, participation, and shared experience.

Centred around Aaron Jolley’s painting practice, the project drew inspiration from observations of everyday life—rooftops, reflections in windows, and the quiet intimacy of the spaces we inhabit. These familiar visual moments created points of connection that encouraged audiences, including those less familiar with contemporary art, to engage with the work through lived experience and personal reflection.

Developed collaboratively with artists, venues, and project partners, Another Day extended beyond exhibition-making to include workshops and public events that prioritised accessibility, dialogue, and participation. Through a care-led curatorial approach, the project sought to create welcoming environments where audiences could encounter contemporary art in ways that felt open, meaningful, and rooted in everyday life, demonstrating how creativity can emerge from the seemingly ordinary and contribute to community connection.
