MA Fashion Innovation

Amelia Hampson

I have a BA in Journalism and chose to do a MA in Fashion Innovation as I've always desired to be involved in a magazine publication in some way. So, I thought, why not actually creative one! I have always loved fashion but never chose to create garments, instead I picked to do the editorial side of it all. I am originally from Birmingham, but have lived in Liverpool for four years now, and I’ve just fell in love with all the culture the city offers, and from living here I've bloomed into this confident, fashion forward individual that jumps at the chance to do anything creative in a way to show off my personality, and creating a magazine was the best way for me to display myself and show off the things I adore.

Project: Urban Fitz Magazine

“Print is not dead”.

Urban Fitz is a sustainable fashion magazine celebrating Liverpool’s diverse and creative fashion scene, showcasing the individuals and communities that contribute to the city’s distinctive identity.

Produced exclusively in print, the magazine explores the enduring value of physical media within an increasingly digital-first world. The Awakening issue features two distinct front covers, printed on recycled silk, demonstrating how print can be both considered and sustainable.

The project positions the magazine as more than a publication: it is a tangible, immersive and collectible piece of creative work. Through its materiality, photography, design and editorial content, Urban Fitz explores what physical media can offer that digital platforms cannot fully replicate, the experience of holding, seeing and engaging with something made to exist in your hands.

Urban Fitz demonstrates that sustainable print media can coexist meaningfully within contemporary culture, while providing a platform for Liverpool’s emerging creative voices.

Issue Two is currently in development, with submissions opening in October.
